A Warren Millionaire Party supplier suspended last year will be one of the first operators of the popular charity poker games in the state charged with illegal gambling.
Fouad “Fred” Haddad, who owns Millionaire Party supplier Total G Services, will appear in court for a preliminary hearing March 19 after running what the Michigan Gaming Control Board deemed an illegal gambling operation at the Paradise Cafe on Mound Road in Warren.
When the Paradise Cafe was raided by the Warren Police Department late last year, authorities seized more than $36,000, four electronic gambling machines, two poker tables, eight $1,000 poker chips from MGM Grand casino, seven televisions, three vehicles and five pounds of marijuana.
Haddad is the second supplier in the state to face charges of violating the Bingo Act. His attorney, Peter Torrice, declined to comment Tuesday.
Paradise Cafe manager Firas Sadou and two dealers also were brought up on related charges. Two customers, Edward Dinha and Johnny Bahri, were arrested on felony narcotics charges and 13 others were issued misdemeanor tickets for gambling violations.

Haddad’s Total G Services Millionaire Party license was suspended in December 2013 after it was determined that he was running illegal gambling activities at Five Star Lanes bowling alley in Sterling Heights. Haddad responded by voluntarily surrendering his license for two years last March. Four months later, Haddad purchased Paradise Cafe, where officials said he continued to conduct illegal gambling.
Even as some of the cases against these charity poker room operators and suppliers move forward, regulations put in place by the Michigan Gaming Control Board have come under fire. Many of the same charities that the gaming board says it was trying to protect oppose the new rules. The Michigan Charitable Gaming association sued and the case is in the Court of Appeals. Millionaire Party license holders are operating under emergency rules while the court battle plays out.
Rick Kalm, executive director of the gaming board, says many of the poker room operators were essentially running illegal casinos, skimming substantial amounts of money. Many charities have fought the rules, saying they were making so much money by allowing these poker room operators to control the games that they don’t mind giving up some of those earnings.

Hundreds of alleged violations led the state to shut down poker rooms and suppliers, with some places voluntarily closing once the crackdown began.
